Welcome to WRA 453 Grant & Proposal Writing at MSU

This is a course about researching and writing grants proposals for corporations, nonprofit organizations, businesses, research, and government agencies. The next session begins August 31, 2011. The syllabus can be found to the right under resources.

The course is designed to help you become a successful grant writer by taking you through the process of writing two grant proposals over the next 15 weeks. To do so, we will move through 12 modules. Each module has reading assignments, media assignments, and 1 or 2 writing activities, as well as extra materials you may want to view.

The work of each module will help to introduce you to different aspects of the world of grant proposal writing. At the same time, each module will take you one step closer to writing your grant proposals.

You may have come to this course with a definite grant project in mind or you may be totally new to the grant proposal writing. In either case, this course will get you to the goal of writing a grant proposal and better understanding the process.

To get started, sign up for the site (look to the top left) and explore the site. We are using this particular site because it allows you to network with other grant writers. You will find that there are two keys to being a successful grant writer. One, good grant proposal writers form networks of people and resources. So get to know the other people on this site. And two, successful grant writers ask lots of questions. So ask whenever you have questions, issues, or problems, ask your instructor or another site member.
